My weekend tour

Last weekend, DH, my best buddy in the whole world and I escaped out of Phoenix and did a Silver Expedition Tour of Sedona and Flagstaff. We had a great time, got some fresh air, ate lots of great food and certainly had good company.
We started out driving through Cottonwood to Sedona, and went up Schnibly Hill Road as far as we could... We were told that the road was open, but not all the way... we had planned on driving all the way through, and heading to the cabin in Munds park, but the cut off was up to the top of the Pink Jeep Tour stop...dang...
We were forced to go back down and drive up 89 to Flagstaff, also a very nice drive. We Had stopped for lunch in Sedona at the Heartline Cafe, and ended up getting to the cabin with enough time to try and figure out how to get the water turned on... didn't quite manage that, but had a nice salmon dinner with shrimp despite the no water thingie...had a nice warm fire and watched the stars...
it was nippy in the morning, but so much nicer than cooking down in Phx... we had a great breakfast in Flagstaff at Macey's Cafe... Steamed egg sandwiches and coffee... oh yummy yummy yummy! I totally blame my sister Kristen for this particular episode in gastronomical delights...it's our favorite place to go when we come for the Sidewalk Chalk contest and Art festival over Labor day Weekend. That's a whole other animal there....great fun despite the sore legs and back....well worth the sore fingers as well...

We spent the afternoon looping around Lake Mary and Mormon Lake Village, visiting the Eagle's migratory stop, watching the herons,stopping at our favorite fishing hole, Lake Nickanick, and then sadly heading back to the heat and reality of Phoenix....
I plan on spending lots of time up at the cabin this summer...even doing some quilting up there...anyone want to join me????
