Monsters ON the bed! Almost!

This is the close up scan that I used for the applique in the center...
Isn't he cute?

The tiny bit I had left over after the borders and the Beauty corner blocks....

The before sewing the borders on and the bubbles in the border...I'll have to add those later after I charge the battery on the camera....

Working on getting this bugger finished...
I am having fun and of course... there was no plan...
Why do I do this to myself?
I guess that is just the way my poor little brain works...
It might be so much easier to actually have a plan, pattern something when I start... but it just never works out that way, and I do get some very unusual quilts that way....
It is good to be quilting again...
I am even somewhat enjoying it again....
Except to the killer hand pain from the rotary cutter....
and the back pain from my poor posture...
Gawds! I need to get back into quilting shape!
Quick to the bat cave!
I'm going to go and do the quilting workout!

The almost finished top!
Sorry for the crappy pictures...DD used the camera and of course left the batteries totally dead!
I'll add the other pictures later when it's alive again....

Facebook, It's Ironic

I have been trying to be good...really...
I had Carpel Tunnel surgery about three weeks ago...The doctor did a really fabulous job...It already looks better than the right hand that I had done in 2007 by a very excellent Mayo Clinic doctor...
But, I was ordered not to do much...
No walking, or going to the gym, no knitting, sewing, lifting...no no no........
So for the most part I have been good... I did sew two little dresses for the DGD and some other minor sewing repairs...but I have been trying to be good. I was getting the DGD ready for bed the other night, and went into her room to get her pajamas, didn't turn the light on and....
caught my foot on the edge of a little piece of slick plastic mat for her play dough...I tried to do the splits, which I was never good at in the best of times, slid my foot into the wood frame of the bed, slammed my knee on the ground. and smashed my hip and elbow (the right side) against the bed as well...
I somehow managed not to break anything...I got a sever scolding from my PCP and a few of the nurses that have known me for years....and was told again not to do anything....
These people don't know me....
I can only take so much TV and sitting around...
So I got the laptop and settled myself into the bedroom...
I spent the day surfing, and looking up bizarre things, and watching Youtube and reading instrucables....
Then there was Facebook...
I have started getting into it about a month ago, but haven't done much with it....
Till yesterday...
I went searching for people that I knew, and tried to figure out how things worked....
Anyway. I was doing something and there was this IQ challenge...So I figured that I could do that and not embarrass myself too much...took the quiz, sailed through it... no problem... now to the Ironic part....
I aced the quiz, not once, but three times, all with different questions, some of them were even hard... all three times, I got a perfect score, and good time....
I couldn't figure out how to post my dang perfect scores without signing up for the $9.95 monthly fee associated with the test....
I guess that it doesn't matter much...
BTW, I got a 147 on my Facebook IQ test....
It's a few points down from what my official test is, but I never saw much use for that one either...It doesn't really accurately measure your intellect or your abilities to function in real life....

I just thought it was funny, and it did make my friend Linda laugh....

Spring is almost here!

I know some of you think I'm nuts...
So don't agree with me too fast on that one...
But I was looking at the sky and the trees and thinking that spring was definitely on it's way...
That was a few weeks ago...
It is here, and as much as I look forward to spring and Easter...
It is just a reminder that the dreaded heat is on it's way and I'd better enjoy the weather while I can....
I do so love it when the trees star to bud, and the desert smells so wonderful in March and May...

Twirly Feliz Dress

OK,
shoot me, I just had to make one, or two, and possibly about three dozen more!
they are really fun and the DGD loves to twirl in them....
I made some adjustments after the first one...It's been a long, long while since I've tackled a Euro pattern, and I just should have figured it out myself... but no, I had to try and read the instructions....
Oh well, live and learn?

This is the one that was recommended with the pattern, it is a PDF file and was helpful...

I do love the dress, but I love more that Sorren's little face lights up when she puts it on...

Walking the Earth

Walking The Earth - Swissarena (Grosstes Luftbild des Landes), Verkehrshaus, Luzern

This is a 200 square metre aerial photograph of Switzerland set into the floor of the Swissarena Gallery at the Verkehrshaus (National Transport Museum) in Luzern - a sort of low-tech version of Google Earth(!)

I have been given the gift of six months to prepare for acceptance or denial of weight loos surgery...I get to see a physical therapist, nutritionist, and weight loos counselor once a month...
I am to walk, cycle, or do an exercise video four time a week, and go to the gym and work out three times a week.
Food and caloric intake will be adjusted...support offered... and we will see how hard I can push myself...
I mean, given the choice, wouldn't you rather not have surgery?
So if I can motivate myself to keep up, and if my results are good... instead of surgery, I will be allowed to continue with the monthly maintenance until I reach a more healthy BMI....
So I have to keep telling myself, that walking and exercising won't generally kill me, but surgery could!
I have been walking at least twenty five minutes every day... even saw a few of the neighbors!
DH got the big stroller back up and running so I can comfortably take the DGD out for my much enjoyed walks....My best buddy in the world Linda, had generously offered to drag, I mean take me out on hikes once a week.
My feet hurt, my legs are complaining, but I do fell better....
I have been monitoring my blood sugars, and will most likely need to adjust my meds along with the food and exercise, but that is a good thing....
Now if I could just magically get a Jacuzzi in the back yard, that would be the icing on the proverbial cake!

Just keep walking!

Just keep walking!

Just keep walkin

Listen deeply for what
your soul already knows,
weave your overdlowing
love for the earth
into your dailty life.

obsessed with the phone already

Well a little bit anyway....

I just got a new one, and I'm learning how to use it... slowly....
and it is a bit frustrating...
it has a touch screen, and I was having trouble with it, and calibrated it, like it says in the instructions, and now it works worse....
I still haven't' got a clue how to use the dang thing...
I guess that a few sessions with the INSTRUCTION MANUEL are in order...

I was hoping to avoid that one, but alas...

Technology has me hostage...

I guess I'd better make friends....
Coffee, or tea?
I'll have a glass of wine please......

Imbolc Remembering the Return of Light

Llewllyn Witches Calendar 2000 and are copyrighted to Llewllyn Publications (ISBN 1567189512).
Candkemas/Imbolc
At Candlemas, Awakening begins and the return of the light seems assured. Energies within the earth, as well as the physical body begin gently pulsate as the days lengthen and our hopes turn to spring. Traditionally a time of transformation and initiation, Candlemas brings "big dreams" and a raised vibration. Sap rises, trees bud and agricultural people everywhere look to nature for the omens that might tell them whether to plant their crops early or late this year. In our tumultuous time, however human-caused global climate change has wrought more intense storms and weather conditions, making it difficult to read these simple oracles.
With powerful Pluto having entered entered the physical sign of Capricorn (until 2024), we look forward now to momentous planetary and personal change. The wise woman releases obsolete forms. As old structures crumble, inside and all around us, a mantra can help to stabilize our energies and subdue our fears. Try saying the protective Sanskrit syllables OM AH HUM over and over whenever you feel afraid, and imagine yourself sitting safely inside Kali's dance of liberation.

Leap of Faith
Standing before a fork in the road there is not a right answer or truth cast in stone, there are choices and plans and desire, there is the heart of fire and twist of fate, there is the unveiling of who you are and who you are becoming, This I have found after bargaining with my hopes and my destiny. There is only a still quiet voice within that tells trust what you know and then surrender, leap of you must, let your wings unfurl, let your angles play catch. We drink dreams from a sliver of moon.
